Under the direction of the VP of Clinical Pharmacy, the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy will be responsible for the end to end clinical pharmacy operation activities – creating, controlling, and improving clinical pharmacy care processes. This position will provide clinical expertise and recommendations related to staffing, resource planning and scheduling to ensure optimal clinical pharmacy performance is achieved. This position will collaborate with the various market and regional medical directors as well as market and care management leaders to improve quality metrics and Stars performance. This position will also be responsible for quality metric monitoring/oversight, quality reporting, analysis and audits, and updating and maintaining the clinical pharmacy SOPs and P&Ps. This position is also responsible for developing plans and programs to support continuous quality improvement using applicable tools where you can make a difference with us as you discover the meaning behind Caring.  Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design strategic approaches for Medication Adherence and other Part D measure improvement.
  • Assumes a leadership role in planning and implementation of pharmacy programs and initiatives.
  • Manage and coach direct reporting individuals.
  • Assesses and makes recommendations for optimal clinical pharmacy design, dialogs, and prompts to meet business requirements and to enhance the member experience.
  • Creates a process management system to monitor key performance indicators.
  • Continuously monitors and analyzes clinical pharmacy data to identify trends and recommend/develop realistic and effective strategies and solutions.
  • Participates in designing, implementing and evaluating systems, processes and methods designed to enhance quality, improve customer service and reduce pharmacy related costs
  • Evaluates regularly the efficiency of business processes according to organizational objectives and ensures there are good processes for improvements when necessary.
  • Evaluates overall clinical pharmacy performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
  • Partners with training staff to develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Updates and maintains the department SOPs, job aids, workflow processes etc. in SharePoint.
  • Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community and effectively presents information to external constituents.
  • Communicate effectively with key customers to keep informed of clinical pharmacy programs and initiatives.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and consultant in all areas of pharmacy and medication management.
  • Manages relationships with market staff to ensure information is shared with providers for quality improvement.
  • Serves a clinical resource for the Medical Assistance Program and provide clinical expertise with formulary additions/deletions.
  • Leads User Acceptance Testing for new clinical programs and system enhancements.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement and other meetings as appropriate.
  • Facilitates a Clinical Pharmacy Process Review on a regular basis with all SMEs present to discuss opportunities, issues, and action plans.
  • Completes significant special projects and performs all other duties as assigned.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Current unrestricted, pharmacist license in the state of residence
  • 7+ years of experience as a clinical or retail pharmacist
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • Experience working with clinic operations, provider relations, working within various payor environments, and risk management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS)
  • Certified Geriatric Pharmacist
  • Certification in Medication Therapy Management (MTM)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Planning and organizational skills to demonstrate leadership and initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex, and concurrent projects
  • Solid interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team
  • Solid analytical and operational skills

 The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
