POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The IT Project Manager III (Senior) is a key member of the IT and Medical Group team, responsible for developing, managing, monitoring, and improving large projects, ensuring timely delivery and desired outcomes for enterprise-wide technology initiatives. They coordinate people and processes, assist cross-functional teams with workflow refinement and resource management, and facilitate change and process improvement, including managing risk and issues. With a deep understanding of technology’s integration with business operations, the IT Project Manager works closely with stakeholders, management, leadership, and geographically dispersed teams across all Michigan Medical Group and system office functions. They provide solid, experienced, and insightful project and program management throughout all project phases, working with Information Systems leadership to understand strategic priorities and establish action plans and timelines for diverse, complex projects across the IT portfolio of services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Manages enterprise-scale technology projects by developing clear plans, coordinating meetings, tracking progress, and ensuring milestones are met to support organizational priorities, including IT initiatives like system implementations and user experience improvements, while optimizing staff resource allocation to efficiently achieve business objectives.
- Cultivates relationships throughout the organization by demonstrating successful technology implementations. Keeps project stakeholders, including executive leadership, internal and external clients, informed of progress, risks and issues on all project requirements and deliverables.
- Helps support an environment where continuous deployment and improvement of application development, business intelligence dashboards and reports, and system upgrade processes are the focus, and everyone's common goal is to deliver outstanding impact and value to our customers.
- Evaluates project requirements and determines the appropriate project management methodology, such as Agile, Waterfall, or a hybrid approach, to ensure efficient execution and successful outcomes.
- Leads the planning and execution of new projects, ensuring alignment on objectives, scope, stakeholders, deliverables, milestones, workplans, team assignments, and budgets.
- Identifies and requests allocation of resources needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Controls scope by developing clear project deliverables and managing expectations.
- Prepares and presents graphical representations, and executive summaries relating to project statuses.
- Plans, conducts and manages multiple complex, enterprise-wide projects and assignments, as necessary.
- Reviews business processes and suggests improvements as appropriate to guide project management and development.
- Develops implementation strategies, training and communication plans for assigned projects.
- Develops and implements release plans for detailed management and coordination of software upgrades, implementations and data migrations, among other technology specific changes.
- Develops, tracks, and manages project budgets, ensuring financial accountability.
- Demonstrates Return on Investment (ROI) for IT projects by quantifying benefits.
- Confirms work in progress and final product through informal and formal reviews and approvals.
- Reinforces the enterprise knowledge management through the collection and communication of lessons learned. Implements improvements to project management based on experiences and lessons learned.
- Proactively identifies and raises issues with project teams; recommending course of action to mitigate risks and implement changes.
- Mentors, trains, and coaches less senior project managers, including serving as an escalation point for critical project risks and organizational challenges.
- Proactively identifies and implements improvements to project management processes.
- All other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and job experience.
CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: PMP certification is preferred. Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) is desirable.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years’ previous experience successfully leading high profile organizational IT projects, providing leadership support, preferably in information technology within a healthcare environment. Previous background working in a matrix-managed organization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS): * Knowledge of industry-standard project management terms.
- High level of proficiency in Project Management and MicroSoft Office applications and tools.
- Experience managing Agile and Scrum processes and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms. Ability to present complex and/or technical concepts to different types of audiences.
- Ability to write clear, unambiguous project charters with clearly defined deliverables and success criteria.
- Exhibits resourcefulness, is self-motivated, highly organized and possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to facilitate a group discussion, either in-person or virtually, and effectively manage meetings.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple tracks of work and changing priorities.
- Experience managing IT projects with general direction and a moderate degree of ambiguity.
- Aptitude to extract, combine and analyze data from project management tools into meaningful stakeholder reports and presentations.
- Good organizational and time management skills to effectively juggle multiple priorities, time constraints.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, i.e., identifying problems, reviewing options and making appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to reconcile differing points of view and influence others to reach consensus on project issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment as a member of the Information Systems team. Possesses courteous and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively with various levels of organizational members and diverse populations including IHA staff, providers and leadership.
- Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.
- Ability to travel to other office/practice sites and meeting and training locations.
- Successful completion of IHA competency-based program within introductory and training period.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS: * Physical activity that may require keyboarding and phone work.
- Physical activity that often requires time working on a computer.
- Physical activity that may require lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Physical activity that occasionally requires walking.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust and focus.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a laptop keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
- Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone, video conferencing technology, and face to face for long periods of time in English.
MINIMUM ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS:
This job operates in a typical office environment which involves frequent interruptions and significant interaction with people which can be stressful at times.
